Logs and Firewood Storage
Efficient log storage is very important. Here are a few important factors to keep in mind when planning your log storage:
- the wood should always sit on a dry surface
- the wood should be covered on top
- the wood can be left open at the sides, but you may want to put a cover on the windy side to ensure the rain does not get to the stored wood too much
- small gaps between the logs allow the air to circulate
- if you're storing your logs outside stack them with the bark side down and stack the top layer with the bark side up, this will act as a 'roof' so that the logs underneath won't get too wet
